Abstract
We are working to improve communications with younger generations about energy issues by modifying the degree of their interest in nuclear power generation. Regarding younger generations who are considered to differ greatly among individuals in their perception of how nuclear power is used, we attempted to categorize them by analyzing factors that influence these differences with respect to the degree of anxiety about risks in the use of nuclear power as a degree of interest. As a result of the experiment, only two classification axes were extracted for categorization: (1) anxiety about radiation and (2) anxiety about not being able to use electricity freely. But it seemed that these were not specific features to younger generations and they were independent of age. The tendency to accept risk generally increased with age, but there was no difference in the age factor. These differences seemed to correlate not only with “age”, but with “social experience” and “degree of recognition about nuclear power.”
